A raucous six piece with an original concoction of ska, funk, soul, reggae and swing – Year of the Dog have a raw energy and unforgettable sound of blasting brass.
Many recognise the dogs from their star appearance as ‘Swing Band’ on Netflix series Sex Education, playing the unforgiving high-school cool kids, and performing their very own hit tune ‘Run These Streets’ in episode three.
Despite their roles, the six fellas studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff are always up for a laugh with anyone, and bring a brilliantly vibrant atmosphere to their gigs.
The dogs of Year of the Dog are;
Felix Lindsell-Hales on vocals and guitar,
Jacob Prescott on bass,
Luke Hartley on drums,
Olly Jenkins on vocals and saxophone,
Dan Hall on Trumpet,
Peter Richards on Bass Trombone.
With Jacob, Luke and Olly studying jazz, Peter classical trombone, and Dan and Felix classical / contemporary Composition – their music is precise, engaging, and yet packed with an amazingly euphoric feeling which will leave you singing their horn lines long after you’ve seen them.
